Prison Ministry RESCATE Retreat
Catholic Charities Prison Ministry is holding it's annual English-language RESCATE Retreat, a three-day Catholic faith experience that will take place July 17–19 at Martin Correctional Institution.
RESCATE, which means "rescue" in Spanish, offers incarcerated men an opportunity to deepen their relationship with God, strengthen their Catholic faith, and experience the healing power of Christ's love and mercy. Earlier this year, the Spanish-language RESCATE retreat was successfully held in April, touching the lives of many participants through prayer, fellowship, and spiritual renewal.
Throughout the weekend, retreat participants will engage in a variety of faith-filled activities, including the celebration of Mass, opportunities to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, personal prayer and reflection, inspirational presentations, and small-group discussions. Retreat sessions focus on themes that encourage spiritual growth and transformation, including:
The Grace of God and the Sacraments
Human Dignity
Confession and Reconciliation
Forgiveness and Healing
The Life and Teachings of Jesus Christ
Avoiding Sin and Growing in Faith
At the heart of the retreat is the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, where participants encounter Christ in a profound and personal way.
In addition to the spiritual programming, RESCATE fosters a sense of Christian community through fellowship activities, shared meals, and music ministry provided by volunteer serenaders. Over the course of the weekend, approximately 40 to 50 inmate participants will receive breakfast, lunch, and dinner as they journey together in faith.
The retreat is made possible through the dedication of approximately 30 volunteers who generously share their time, talents, and witness to Christ's love. Their commitment helps create an atmosphere of welcome, encouragement, and hope for those seeking a renewed relationship with God.
Through programs like RESCATE, Catholic Charities Prison Ministry continues its mission of bringing the Gospel behind prison walls, reminding participants that God's mercy, forgiveness, and love are available to all who seek Him.
