In a significant boost to disaster recovery efforts across Florida, Catholic Charities of Florida has been awarded a substantial grant of $1,978,007 from the American Red Cross. This grant is specifically aimed at aiding victims affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, which wrought havoc across the state. The funding will be shared among six Catholic Charities organizations throughout Florida, each playing a crucial role in providing relief and support to impacted communities.
Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach, receiving a commendable $200,000 portion of the grant, is set to play a pivotal role in assisting communities across its five-county diocese. These counties include Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Okeechobee, and Indian River Counties, all of which experienced significant tornado damage during the storms. Catholic Charities is participating in all 5 long-term recovery groups being formed or already in operation in each county.
