Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach is honored to announce a generous $75,000 grant award from The Jim Moran Foundation to provide critical homelessness prevention services to seniors in Palm Beach County.
This funding will be used to assist elderly residents facing temporary financial hardship by offering support for rent or mortgage payments and utility bills, helping them maintain safe, stable housing. Many seniors in our community live on fixed incomes, and an unexpected expense or loss of income can quickly put them at risk of eviction, foreclosure, or utility shutoff.
Through this grant, Catholic Charities will work to ensure that vulnerable seniors do not have to choose between paying for housing or other basic necessities such as food, medication, or healthcare. The program will focus on preventing homelessness before it occurs, allowing older adults to remain in their homes and maintain their independence.
“We are deeply grateful to The Jim Moran Foundation for their trust in our mission and their compassion for seniors in need,” said Ellen T. Wayne, CEO of Catholic Charities. “This funding will make an immediate and life-changing difference for elderly residents who are struggling to make ends meet.”
Established in 2000 by automotive pioneer Jim Moran to ensure his philanthropy would endure beyond his lifetime, the mission of The Jim Moran Foundation is to improve the quality of life for the youth and families of Florida through the support of innovative programs and opportunities that meet the ever-changing needs of the community. Their investment in Catholic Charities’ homelessness prevention services reflects a shared commitment to preserving dignity, fostering stability, and strengthening the community.
Catholic Charities has a long history of providing assistance to individuals and families in crisis, guided by the values of the Catholic faith. In 2024 alone, our homelessness prevention efforts have helped hundreds of households in Palm Beach County avoid the trauma of losing their homes. This new grant will allow us to expand that impact for seniors—offering hope, stability, and compassion to some of our most vulnerable neighbors.
