Since opening its doors in September 2022, Catholic Charities’ Birthline/Lifeline Program in Fort Pierce has become a vital resource for mothers, babies, and families in St. Lucie County and the surrounding Treasure Coast. One of three locations—alongside Boynton Beach and West Palm Beach—the Fort Pierce center continues to experience significant growth as the need for compassionate support expands.
The program provides support and assistance to expectant mothers, new parents, and families of young children to include pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, pregnancy options counseling, material goods and more - free of charge. With a dedicated staff of three full-time team members and two committed volunteers, the Ft. Pierce center is able to offer services in English, Spanish, and Creole, ensuring that every client is welcomed with dignity and care. As demand increases, the need for additional volunteers to serve clients has never been greater.
Since its opening, the Fort Pierce Birthline/Lifeline site has hosted more than 2,221 client visits, with each year showing a remarkable doubling of visits compared to the last. This upward trend is continuing into the 2025–26 fiscal year, with July and August already reflecting record-high numbers. On the front lines of client engagement, the office’s Scheduling Coordinator fields between 200–250 calls every month for Fort Pierce services alone, demonstrating both the reach and impact of this growing program.
In 2024–25, the numbers speak volumes about the generosity and care extended through the Birthline/Lifeline Program in Fort Pierce:
- Nearly 1,000 one-on-one client sessions with advocates provided compassionate support, education, and resources.
- Clients received over 2,250 packs of diapers, helping families with one of the most essential and costly baby needs.
- 130 new mothers celebrated the arrival of their babies with a brand-new diaper bag and layette filled with new and gently used newborn essentials.
- Almost 100 families received a car seat, ensuring their infants’ safety, and over 100 clients received a pack-n-play, offering a safe space for their babies to sleep.
“These numbers reflect more than just services provided—they represent lives touched and families supported in some of their most vulnerable moments,” said Katherine Bowers, Program Director for the Birthline/Lifeline Program. “Our staff and volunteers are honored to walk alongside our clients, offering hope and practical help. At the same time, the ongoing growth of this program means we are in great need of more volunteers to continue meeting the needs of our community.”
With locations in Fort Pierce, Boynton Beach, and West Palm Beach, Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach remains committed to serving women and families with compassion, resources, and respect for the dignity of life.
