Volunteer Spotlight: Kayla Lubrano

Catholic Charities is blessed to shine our Volunteer Spotlight on Kayla Lubrano, a dedicated member of our Prison Ministry team.

Kayla joined the ministry just six months ago and has already become a vital part of the team. Every Tuesday evening, after a full day of work, she faithfully travels an hour to the West Detention Center in Belle Glade to minister to incarcerated women. Her commitment and joyful spirit reflect the love of Christ in a powerful way.

Catholic Charities prison ministry volunteers bring hope and dignity to 15 correctional facilities within our 5-county diocese.  Services offered include bible study, communion/prayer service, rosaries and prayer cards, and individual study.

In a message she shared in May, Kayla wrote:

“I will truly thank you every single time I walk out of that jail—for not only welcoming me into this ministry with open arms, but also for trusting me with such a meaningful and impactful mission. Each time I leave, I feel a deep sense of confirmation that this is exactly where God is calling me to be.”

We are deeply grateful for Kayla’s “yes” to God’s call and for the light she brings to those she serves. Her example inspires us all to answer the call to serve with faith, compassion, and courage.  Thank you, Kayla, for your beautiful witness and dedication to our Prison Ministry!
