Collaborative Training Builds Capacity for Disaster Response in Indian River County

A heartfelt thank you to Catholic Charities USA, United Way of Indian River County, and Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach for their incredible partnership in offering a two-day Disaster Case Management Essentials training on November 13–14.

Catholic Charities USA generously provided the training curriculum and expert trainers.
United Way of Indian River County hosted the training, offering the meeting space along with snacks and lunch for participants.
Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach coordinated the training and managed registration to ensure a smooth and successful event.

Participants included staff from United Against Poverty, Indian River County Habitat for Humanity, the Salvation Army, Hope for Families Center, New Horizons of the Treasure Coast, Coalition for Attainable Homes, VNA of the Treasure Coast, Our Village Okeechobee, St. Lucie County Human Services, Resource Center for Disability Solutions, the Mental Health Collaborative of Indian River County, Safe Families for Children, Childcare Resource Center, and Tykes and Teens.

We were grateful to welcome nonprofit and social service partners from across the community who are committed to strengthening disaster preparedness and long-term recovery services. Together, we’re building a more resilient Treasure Coast.

Some comments from participants about what they liked best about the training include:

  • The available resources and a better understanding of the FEMA process
  • The interactive activities to help practice what was learned
  • Very informative, lots of resources, networking

Thank you to everyone who joined us—your dedication makes all the difference.
