Today, we celebrate the Feast Day of St. Elizabeth of Hungary, the patron saint of Catholic Charities and a shining example of compassion in action. Though she lived only 24 years, St. Elizabeth devoted her life to caring for the poor, the hungry, the sick, and the forgotten. Her legacy of mercy continues to inspire generations of service—and it inspires the work we do every day.
At Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach, our staff, board, funding partners, and volunteers carry forward that same spirit of love and service. Each day, you welcome those who come to us anxious, uncertain, or afraid. You greet them with respect, kindness, and a steadfast commitment to honoring the dignity of every person who seeks our help. Whether you are providing direct services, supporting vital operations, or advocating for justice out in our community, your work is a living reflection of St. Elizabeth’s example.
As our CEO, Ellen, shared with staff today, this mission isn’t always easy. The challenges can be great, the circumstances unpredictable, and sometimes our efforts may go unnoticed or unappreciated. Yet you continue to show up with open hearts, ready to serve, ready to be present, and ready to witness Christ in each person you encounter.
Today, we pause to express our deepest appreciation for your dedication, professionalism, and compassion. You make a meaningful difference in the lives of thousands across our diocese, and your efforts ensure that St. Elizabeth’s legacy remains alive in our community.
We are humbled, honored, and inspired by the incredible work you do.
In gratitude,
Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach
