Catholic Charities Receives Renewed United Way of Palm Beach County Grant to Support Disaster Recovery Efforts

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach is deeply grateful to the United Way of Palm Beach County for its renewed grant award of $95,299, awarded in December 2025, in support of ongoing Disaster Recovery efforts following the 2024 Hurricane Milton tornadoes that devastated Palm Beach County and surrounding areas.

When Hurricane Milton tore through our region over one year ago, the impact on families and individuals was swift and overwhelming. Homes were damaged or destroyed, livelihoods were disrupted, and many of our most vulnerable neighbors were left facing uncertainty and loss. In the wake of this disaster, Catholic Charities stepped in to provide compassionate, practical assistance to those struggling to rebuild their lives.

Thanks to the continued partnership and generosity of United Way of Palm Beach County, Catholic Charities is able to sustain critical disaster recovery services, including case management, financial assistance for home repairs, rent, and mold remediation, and referrals to essential community resources through FEMA and the American Red Cross. This renewed investment ensures that survivors of the Hurricane Milton tornadoes are not forgotten once the immediate crisis fades but are supported throughout the long and often difficult recovery process one year later.

“United Way’s commitment to our community allows us to walk alongside families as they move from crisis toward stability and hope,” said Carol Rodriguez, Program Development and Quality Director, who oversees the program. “Their support strengthens our ability to respond quickly, effectively, and with dignity to those most impacted by disaster.”

Catholic Charities values its longstanding collaboration with United Way of Palm Beach County and the Palm Beach County Long-Term Recovery Coalition.  We share a vision of a resilient, caring community where everyone has the opportunity to recover and thrive. Together, we are helping individuals and families regain stability, restore their homes, and rebuild their futures after disaster.

We extend our sincere thanks to United Way of Palm Beach County, its donors, and partners for standing with our neighbors in their time of greatest need. Their generosity continues to make healing and recovery possible across our diocese and beyond.
