FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Palm Beach, FL — For more than four decades, Catholic Charities Diocese of Palm Beach has stood as a lifeline for the poorest and most vulnerable members of our local community—serving the hungry, the trafficked, the unborn, the imprisoned, the refugee, the elderly, and all those who often remain unseen and unheard.
Behind the scenes, for the past 16 years a dedicated committee of local “angels” has helped strengthen and expand the network of donors who make this vital outreach possible. On December 2, 2025, the Bishop’s Gala Committee convened for its Annual White Luncheon at the Beach Club, graciously hosted by Marietta McNulty, Chairmen Emeritus of the Catholic Charities Caritas Dei Bishop’s Annual Gala.
“This year’s theme, “Beyond the Palms”, reflects the heart of our mission,” said Debra M. Tornaben Catholic Charities, Director of Development. “Each day, our devoted team works tirelessly to reach those who are overlooked—to offer help and hope with dignity and respect. “Beyond the Palms” reminds us that our responsibility stretches far beyond our own beautiful surroundings of palm tree lined streets and blue waters and into the lives of the working-poor, and local people who need assistance to get their lives back on track.”
The Bishop’s Charity Medal was awarded to the Fanjul Family, and additional 2026 honorees include: Kathy and Paul Leone, Margaret Donnelley, and Father Juan Raul Cardenas from St. Mary’s Church in Pahokee.
Proceeds from the Gala directly support the nonprofit’s extensive local outreach programs, enabling essential services that uplift local brothers and sisters facing hardship. These programs provide food, crisis intervention, case management, emergency assistance, advocacy, and compassionate care to over fifteen thousand people each year.
For over 40 years, Catholic Charities has made a measurable and meaningful difference in the lives of countless individuals and families. Through the generosity of leaders in our community, local donors, the dedication of volunteers, and the commitment of the Angels Committee, Catholic Charities continues to strengthen the community one life at a time.
This Annual Gala was sold out - but our work continues and support is needed more today than ever before with increased needs in our community - we need the community behind us. To support our outreach programs and make a difference “Beyond the Palms” call Debra M. Tornaben at 561-360-3334.
