Catholic Charities is grateful to announce that the Smith Brothers Family Foundation has awarded a $50,000 grant in March 2026 to support the Bakhita Empowerment Program, which assists survivors of human trafficking on their journey toward safety, healing, and independence.
The Bakhita Empowerment Program provides comprehensive, survivor-centered services including case management, emergency assistance, and connections to critical resources such as safe housing, legal support, and employment opportunities. These services help individuals rebuild their lives after experiencing exploitation and abuse.
Thanks to the generosity of the Smith Brothers Family Foundation, Catholic Charities will be able to meet the urgent needs of survivors in Palm Beach and the Treasure Coast. This funding will directly support essential services that promote stability, dignity, and long-term empowerment.
Human trafficking remains a hidden but serious issue affecting vulnerable individuals and families. Partnerships with philanthropic organizations like the Smith Brothers Family Foundation make it possible for Catholic Charities to respond with compassion, expertise, and hope.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Smith Brothers Family Foundation for their commitment to protecting and empowering survivors. Together, we are helping restore lives and create pathways to freedom and healing.
