Indian River Community Foundation Awards Catholic Charities $30,000 Grant to Support Homeless Families at The Samaritan Center

The Samaritan Center transitional housing program is better with support from the Indian River Community Foundation.  Catholic Charities is grateful for their generous $30,000 grant award in March 2026 in support of The Samaritan Center, our transitional housing program serving homeless families in Indian River County.

This vital funding strengthens our ability to provide safe, stable housing and comprehensive support services to families experiencing homelessness. The Samaritan Center offers a structured, multi-level program designed to guide families toward self-sufficiency through life skills development, including parenting, financial management, employment readiness, and personal goal setting.

Each year, the program serves Indian River families who are homeless or on the brink of eviction—many of whom are single-parent households with young children. Through a combination of housing, mental health counseling, life skills training, and intensive case management, families are empowered to rebuild their lives and achieve long-term stability.

Thanks to the generosity of our community partners, including the Indian River Community Foundation, families at The Samaritan Center receive not only shelter, but also the tools and support necessary to break the cycle of homelessness. Outcomes from the program consistently demonstrate success, with the majority of graduating families securing stable housing and employment.

We extend our heartfelt thanks for this investment in our mission of “serving people in need and creating hope in all stages of life.” This partnership ensures that vulnerable families in Indian River County have the opportunity to move from crisis to stability—and toward a brighter future.
