The Koch Foundation Awards Grant to Support Catholic Charities Prison Ministry Outreach

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach is honored to announce the receipt of a $10,000 grant from the Koch Foundation in support of its Prison Ministry program. This generous award will help the ministry’s efforts to bring spiritual support, hope, and human connection to individuals who are incarcerated throughout the Diocese’s five-county service area.

Serving Those Often Forgotten

Catholic Charities’ Prison Ministry operates in 20 correctional facilities, including prisons, jails, and juvenile detention centers, reaching thousands of individuals each year. Through the dedication of more than 100 trained volunteers, the program provides pastoral care, faith formation, and meaningful engagement to those seeking hope and transformation during incarceration.

Volunteers contribute nearly 9,000 hours of service annually, offering Bible studies, prayer groups, and one-on-one visits that foster dignity, purpose, and spiritual growth.

Transforming Lives Through Faith

Research and experience continue to demonstrate that faith-based prison programs can play a vital role in:

  • Reducing recidivism
  • Improving emotional and behavioral outcomes
  • Encouraging positive life changes and personal accountability

Catholic Charities witnesses these transformations firsthand through increased expressions of hope, improved relationships, and a renewed sense of purpose among those served.

The Koch Foundation

Established in 1979 by Carl and Paula Koch, the Koch Foundation is a Catholic philanthropic organization dedicated to strengthening and propagating the Roman Catholic faith worldwide through strategic grantmaking.

The Foundation supports a wide range of evangelization efforts, including:

  • Direct faith-based outreach and ministry programs
  • Formation and training of clergy and lay leaders
  • Catholic education and religious materials
  • Projects that expand the Church’s presence in underserved communities

With an international scope, the Koch Foundation prioritizes financially needy programs that advance Catholic teaching and values, awarding hundreds of grants annually to Catholic organizations across the globe.  Catholic Charities is grateful to partner with a foundation so deeply committed to sharing the Gospel and supporting ministries that bring faith, hope, and healing to those most in need.

Continuing the Mission

Founded in 1984, Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach serves more than 15,000 individuals annually through a wide range of programs addressing homelessness, hunger, human trafficking, immigration, and more.

This grant ensures that the Prison Ministry can continue to grow and respond to the spiritual and emotional needs of incarcerated individuals—offering not only support, but a path toward hope and restoration.
