Seeds of Hope: Celebrating our Volunteers

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach recently welcomed more than 80 dedicated volunteers to its annual Volunteer Appreciation Brunch, themed “Seeds of Hope,” held at the St. Ignatius Family Center, in Palm Beach Gardens on April 22.  April is volunteer appreciation month.  The gathering served as a heartfelt celebration of the individuals whose time, compassion, and commitment make the agency’s mission possible each day.

The morning brought together volunteers from across multiple programs and ministries, creating a space of fellowship, gratitude, and reflection. Throughout the event, Program Directors shared powerful insights into the work being done across the organization, highlighting how volunteers play a vital role in transforming lives. From supporting families in crisis, ministering to the imprisoned, to assisting vulnerable populations, the message was clear: volunteers are at the heart of every success story. With remarks from our CEO, Dr. Ellen T. Wayne, and a visit from Bishop Manuel de Jesus Rodriguez, they shared their appreciation and reminded us how every act of service reflects the love of Christ - meeting people where they are, offering compassion without condition, and becoming his hands and feet in the world."

Their stories underscored what Catholic Charities witnesses daily—that service is not just about meeting immediate needs, but about restoring dignity, building stability, and creating lasting hope in the lives of those served. This is a reminder of “the transformative power of volunteerism and the profound impact it has on both volunteers and those they serve.”

A special highlight of the brunch was the generous contribution of Joseph's Classic Market, whose donated meal provided a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all in attendance. Their support helped make the celebration even more meaningful. Thank you Joseph's Classic Market!

Thank you also to Kenda Peterson, our Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator and all on her team to organize this event.

The event concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and appreciation. Volunteers left not only recognized, but inspired—reminded that through their service, they truly plant seeds of hope in every life they touch.
