Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach is grateful to the John’s Island Foundation for its generous May 2026 grant supporting critical roof replacement projects at the Samaritan Center in Vero Beach. The funding will provide new roofs for both the residential housing building and the administrative offices, helping ensure a safe and secure environment for the families served through the program.
The Samaritan Center, a program of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach, provides transitional housing and supportive services to homeless families in Indian River County, helping parents and children move toward long-term stability and independence.
As a foundation dedicated to funding capital needs for nonprofit organizations serving residents in Indian River County, the John’s Island Foundation continues to make a lasting impact throughout the community by investing in projects that strengthen services and improve lives.
“This investment helps ensure that families experiencing homelessness have a safe, stable and welcoming place to rebuild their lives,” said Renee Bireley, Catholic Charities Development Manager for the Samaritan Center. “We are sincerely grateful to the John’s Island Foundation for recognizing the importance of maintaining the Samaritan Center and supporting our mission of serving vulnerable homeless families with dignity and compassion.”
The roof replacements will help preserve the Samaritan Center facilities for years to come, allowing Catholic Charities to continue providing housing, case management, life skills training and supportive services to families in need throughout Indian River County.
