Families transitioning out of homelessness at the Samaritan Center in Indian River County will soon benefit from a generous donation of furnishings and equipment made possible through a collaborative partnership between the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI) and Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach.
The donation was coordinated through Kris Rivera, Operations Director for Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach, following outreach from USCRI as the organization prepared to close its shelter for unaccompanied minors in Lake Worth after seven years of operation.
The donated items included living room furniture, a washer and dryer, conference furnishings, desks, an 80-inch television, and additional equipment that will help enhance services and living spaces for families participating in the Samaritan Center transitional housing program.
The Samaritan Center provides transitional housing and supportive services to homeless families in Indian River County, helping parents and children move toward stability, self-sufficiency, and permanent housing. Donations such as these play a vital role in creating welcoming, functional spaces where families can rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
“We are incredibly grateful for this donation and the partnership that made it possible,” said Kris Rivera, Operations Director for Catholic Charities. “These furnishings and resources will directly benefit the families we serve and help create a more comfortable and supportive environment during an important time of transition.”
Catholic Charities extends its sincere appreciation to USCRI, Program Director Alejita Rodriguez, and all those involved in facilitating this meaningful contribution to the Samaritan Center.
Together, through community collaboration and shared compassion, lives are being transformed every day.
