Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach is grateful to announce a $10,000 grant from The Walter & Adi Blum Foundation in support of Catholic Charities Immigration Legal Services. The Foundation’s Directors approved the grant to help provide affordable legal assistance to immigrants and families throughout Catholic Charities’ five-county service area.
The grant will help Catholic Charities continue its mission of providing compassionate legal assistance to individuals and families navigating the complex U.S. immigration system. Immigration Legal Services works to help keep families together, reunite families separated by immigration circumstances, and educate immigrant communities about their rights and available legal options. The program serves Palm Beach, Martin, Indian River, Okeechobee and St. Lucie counties.
Immigration law can be complicated and intimidating, particularly for individuals with limited financial resources. Catholic Charities provides low-cost and affordable legal services to help clients understand their options and navigate applications, documentation, court proceedings and other immigration-related processes. The program assists with matters including family petitions, asylum applications, naturalization, employment authorization, adjustment of status, VAWA petitions, T and U visas, Temporary Protected Status, Special Immigrant Petitions and other immigration remedies.
The need for these services continues to grow. During the last fiscal year, Catholic Charities Immigration Legal Services provided 545 services, including 312 consultations, 56 DACA services, 22 relative petitions, 18 green card renewals, 18 work authorizations, 17 naturalization applications, 14 status adjustment applications, 13 U/T visa services, nine FOIA requests and eight removal defenses.
The program is staffed by a multilingual team that includes two full-time attorneys, a full-time Department of Justice Accredited Representative, a part-time paralegal and two full-time support staff. Services are offered at Catholic Charities locations in Riviera Beach, Pahokee and Fort Pierce.
The Walter & Adi Blum Foundation has previously supported Catholic Charities, providing a $10,000 grant in 2025. The Foundation was established by the late Adi Blum, who believed that a portion of the wealth accumulated by her and her husband, Walter, should be shared with organizations serving the community. In its August 20, 2026 award letter, the Foundation encouraged Catholic Charities to continue its work on behalf of those in need.
