Strengthening Families through Housing and Mental Health Support Thanks to the Indian River County Hospital District

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach was pleased to provide a progress report to the Indian River County Hospital District Board of Trustees yesterday on the impact of its investment in the Samaritan Center Transitional Housing Program.

Our Operations Director, Kris Rivera, shared program updates and highlighted how the Samaritan Center integrates transitional housing, on-site mental health services, case management, life-skills development, and children's programming to help families experiencing homelessness move toward stability and self-sufficiency.

During the reporting period, the Samaritan Center served 55 Indian River County residents, with 503 documented service encounters. We are also pleased to share that Dr. Andrea Caputo joined the team in September, restoring consistent on-site mental health services for residents.

Renee Bireley, our Development Director, shared a success story illustrating the meaningful difference this support makes in the lives of the families we serve.

We are grateful to the Indian River County Hospital District for its partnership and commitment to the health and well-being of our community. Together, we are helping families overcome barriers, build resilience, and create a foundation for a healthier, more stable future.

The Samaritan Center is supported by the Indian River County Hospital District through taxpayer support.
