Disaster Recovery Program Activated to Assist Residents Displaced due to Plane Crash and Flooding Throughout Palm Beach and Treasure Coast

Disaster Recovery Program Activation Date: November 3, 2026

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach activated its Disaster Case Management Program on November 3, 2026, in response to two separate emergency situations affecting residents within our service area.

Supporting Families Displaced by the Greenacres Plane Crash

Following a plane crash in Greenacres, Palm Beach County, access to a mobile home community consisting of 79 homes was restricted while the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) conducts its investigation.

As a result, 316 individuals were displaced from their homes.

Catholic Charities is working closely with the Palm Beach County Community Services Division and Emergency Management officials to provide case management and identify temporary housing solutions for affected residents.

Displaced residents are currently staying in a shelter; however, the shelter is scheduled to close within a week. Catholic Charities is working with its community partners to help identify the next steps and connect residents with appropriate housing resources.

Responding to Widespread Flooding Across Our Five-County Diocese

Severe flooding throughout the five counties served by our diocese has also displaced hundreds of residents. The full extent of the damage and displacement is still being assessed.

Catholic Charities is reaching out to Emergency Operations Centers throughout all five counties to offer assistance and coordinate support for individuals and families impacted by the flooding.

As more information becomes available, our team will continue working with local partners to identify needs and connect affected residents with available recovery resources.

Together, We Can Help Our Community Recover

Disasters can leave individuals and families facing uncertainty, displacement, and unexpected financial and emotional challenges. Catholic Charities is committed to walking alongside our neighbors during these difficult times, helping them access resources and take meaningful steps toward recovery.

Through collaboration, compassion, and our network of community partners, we remain dedicated to serving those most in need.
